Biography goes here.
Working at Greenfingers fulfils my passion for outdoor work and customer care.
I find immense satisfaction in potting plants, watching them develop from tiny seedlings into the lush, beautiful specimens we offer our customers. This growth process is, without doubt, the most rewarding aspect of my job.
The garden has always been a passion for me and my partner for over 20 years. Working in the garden gives us the sense of happiness and pride with great satisfaction and wellbeing.
It’s almost impossible to narrow it down far too many favourite plants but one of the highlights of my gardening year is Iris Blue King.Big clumps of vivid blue flowers dotted amongst fresh, lush green foliage around my pond. Flowering in early May heralds the start of a new growing season. It helps that I work with some good people.
Tasks and duties are varied so never a dull day. What’s not to like about working amongst such lovely scents and colours, working in the freedom of fresh air especially when the sun shines!!
Lover of plants since aged four when my Cornish father gave me my own little plot. I grew mostly daisies and “smelly plants”.
Fast-forward to working with the world’s prominent plant breeders and picturing their gems. 20 years of denial in construction. Should retire but I won’t. Knowledge-thirsty and a bit of a stickler on plant names and labelling, I greet with a smile and serve all I can.
Overly into herbs, both culinary and functional Favourite plant has to be Gingko Biloba. As a “living fossil,” the species has remained largely unchanged for millions of years, adding scientific and cultural interest. The Greenfingers team gave me the chance to re-join the Hort world. This team is ready, willing and able to meet the needs of Plants People and I love being a part of its exciting future.
John is an important part of the team particularly when it comes to deliveries and organising stock around the nursery. His organisation, passion and willingness to get involved truly reflects the Greenfingers philosophy.
With over three decades of experience in horticulture, I have cultivated a diverse and rewarding career in landscaping and horticulture. My journey began 30 years ago, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of working on a wide array of projects that have allowed me to showcase my passion and expertise.
I have created show gardens for prestigious events such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, completed numerous landscaping projects at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, created gardens at Gardeners World Live at the Birmingham NEC and worked on landscaping jobs overseas.
Throughout my career, I’ve found immense satisfaction in the process of bringing garden displays to life and witnessing the delight they bring to customers. The art of transforming spaces and eliciting positive reactions has been a driving force in my work.
Currently, I’m proud to be part of the team at Greenfingers. Here, I continue to nurture my love for horticulture by working closely with our customers and embracing the opportunity to work outdoors. My approach to horticulture blends, creativity, technical skill, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Helping customers bring their green visions to life, I remain committed to fostering beautiful, thriving spaces that connect people with the joys of nature.
Plants have been a huge part of my life since I was a small child. I am so fortunate to work at Greenfingers as propagating plants is my first love and also my hobby, from planting a small cutting or plug and watching it grow into a specimen plant that a client chooses for their design or sell is incredibly rewarding.
To choose one plant out of all those we grow would be so difficult, but if I had to choose it would be plants that bees adore such as Echinops Blue Globe, Digitalis and Veronicastrum. I have worked at Greenfingers for over 8yrs and work with a great bunch of guys and I feel fortunate that I enjoy coming to work everyday.
